Our Mission

Our sole purpose is to enrich and enhance the lives of children who have experienced abuse . Through contribution and community we are able to provide a safe, fun place for children who have suffered abuse to experience joy and create happy memories. Something most of us take for granted, yet for a child who has experienced abuse it will be a new experience that will have a lasting positive impact on his/her life . Making a difference will inspire and transform his/her life from something terrible, something we can not even imagine, to something where only possibility lives. These children have had their lives' torn apart in the blink of an eye. Their innocence, their spirit, their trusting nature and their beliefs about themselves and others tragically altered. We have the opportunity to fill their lives' with joy, laughter, fun and excitement. Let them experience first hand how wonderful they really are; that not everyone is bad and there are people they can trust and feel safe with and that they deserve to experience the joys of just being a kid. All children deserve a childhood, let's give them one.

Summer 2009:

A two week overnight camp for children who have experienced abuse between the ages of 8 - 13.

Goals

Our main goal is to provide a safe, fun, full of adventure camp experience that will bring a smile to the faces of children who have experienced abused that will stay with them beyond their 2 week stay. May their short stay at Rainbow of Hope Camp leave them with the hope and belief that each and every child is unique, special and capable of greatness. Camp can have such a profound positive impact on a child's sense of self and others, transform their worldview and their future and it may very well be the highlight of their entire year. Imagine that, their entire year. With your help and generosity we can help children who have suffered abuse change their future. Now that's powerful and inspiring. Your contribution will make all the difference.

Programs

We will offer a wide range of programs that will provide the children with a unique opportunity for growth through challenging, fun and enriching experiences. There are a number of outdoor educational programs:

Basketball	and much more ...

Imagination and creativity will abound through creative arts, dance and drama classes. While horse back riding, archery and campfires with sing-alongs at night will add to the wonderment of camp. There are sure to be lots of fun-filled days that will leave the children feeling special and cherished. Their sense of belonging and shared experiences will build their confidence and strength. The bonds and cherished friendships they will make will last a lifetime.

Facilites

The camp facility is a member of the OCA. The property is a natural wonderland of 300 acres consisting of valleys, fields, forests, mixed woodlands, reforested areas, a river, as well as a wide variety of birds, animals and plant life. It's absolutely breathtaking. The lodgings are modern and ideal for mid-size groups which is the goal of this community project. It has everything a child needs for a magical summer adventure.

Staff

The on-site catering staff offers freshly prepared home-made nutritious and delicious meals. Any dietary concerns ie allergies, vegetarians will be taken care of by the camp, we need only inform them in advance so that they are prepared. In addition to the camp's program counselors, we will maintain our own staff of predominantly volunteers that will include and not be limited to: a camp director, a medical doctor, lifeguards, child psychologist/psychiatrist, play therapist, art therapist, camp counselors, children's events planner, musicians , drama and/or dance coach, as well as any additional support staff that will be deemed necessary to ensure the safety and success of the camp. All will be instrumental in transforming how these children view themselves and the world around them.

Rainbow of Hope Camp relies on the generosity of volunteers and donors in order to provide their campers unforgettable memories at no cost to their families.
